global studies

The accelerated flow of transnational processes calls for new approaches to understanding contemporary social, economic, and cultural change. Global Studies is an interdisciplinary major in the social sciences that provides students with the conceptual frameworks and practical skills to engage with globalization at multiple scales. The major is structured around thematic and regionally focused coursework. Students also learn a foreign language to an advanced level and study abroad for at least one semester. Internships, faculty-guided research, and distinction projects provide integrative learning experiences. These capstone opportunities also expose students to a diversity of career paths. Gifts to LAS Global Studies will enhance student learning by supporting study abroad, undergraduate research, and internships.
